Tips on where to put your ads

Now you know how to create your ads in Adsense, lets learn where to put our ads effectively. There is a research conducted using eye-tracking. More of the findings of this eye-tracking study here: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/reading_pattern.html. Websites too have prime locations on their pages, we can do less speculation on where these page spots are. Check out these graphics:

The red hues represent more intense eye viewing. What’s interesting is that the website on the left and center have red hues especially at areas where the content is short and bulleted.

Interestingly, the above maps well to Google Adsense’s recommendation for ad placement:

Hope this helps you gain knowledge on what kind of ads you will put and where to put them.

But the most effective way to advertise is still know your targets.

How does Google Adsense Works?

Google Adsense will check your Blogsite/Website for your Hyper-Text Contents. If Google Adsense have information about your site, Google Adsense will be the one who picks the appropriate ads for your site. It means that everything is automatic.

Step 1: Create Adsense Account. Go to www.google.com/adsense then click Sign Up Now

Step 2: Follow the instructions. After you had signed in for, you are now set.

Step 3: Click Adsense Setup. Then click Get Ads. In this example, there are 4 category you will see. Lets try Adsense for Content for now.

1

Step 4: Before, I experience using Google Adsense, there are a lot of types of ads to choose from. Now Google categorize it in two which is commonly used. Let us select the Famous and commonly used Ad unit option.

  • Text Only - Only plain text and no graphic ads are shown here
  • Image Only - Only graphic ads are shown here
  • Text and Image - My favorite, A combination of text ang graphic ads.

*For this example, let's select Text and Image Ads then press continue.

2

Step 5: This is where you can edit and customize your ads to make your ads blend with your website/blog. click on Preview this AdSense unit to view your first ad. After editing you 1st ad, press continue.

3

Step 6: Now it will ask for channels (optional). But I would RECOMMEND you this. What is Channel? Well, here, you can be more specific for your ads by Google to be displayed in your website. If you have a certain topic for example about gardening, Make a channel that describe about Gardening. Just click Add New Channel. Make one then click add. And then just click continue. With this, you can separate your ads because I'm sure there will be times that you will make more websites or blogs and with this, you can look and observe your website/blog progress in Google Adsense and give you separate data on every channel.

4

Step 7: Next page will ask you for a name, so type the name of your ad. Keep in mind the name you created is only for your own reference to make your life better. This will not show in you sites. Then click Submit and Get Code.

Step 8: This is the part where your money maker is made. The next page will show your codes and all you have to do is copy and paste it in your website. Try to experiment it to your website/blog, its just easy as 1, 2 and 3. You may want to use HTML editor (I use Dreamweaver) to paste your codes to your website.

Step 9: If you don't feel to paste your codes into your website yet, you can turn back your ads again by clicking Adsense Set-up then Manage Ads. Select the Ad that you desire to use then click Code to see the code you wish to copy.

Let's try Google Adsense

It's quite a long time for me to update this blog since now I'm not unemployed. I worked now as a Web Developer of Hotel Sogo, a lodging hotel in the Philippines (www.hotelsogo.com). I still earn from my website and just as i said in my previous post, I'll introduce to you google adsense.

Introductions in Google Adsense:

Well imagine you are watching your favorite TV show and they show you a lot of commercial advertisements in between these shows. That's how they make money. Same concept in the Internet, People want to advertise and they need to post it somewhere.

These are some example of programs in the Internet on where we can find ads to grab:

  • Google Adsense
  • Clickbank
  • Adbrite
  • And many more
Let's focus on Google since its popular and easy to familiarize. Google created this program to let people who have website post other advertisement and in exchange for some money. This is what we want and this is how I made money. We only need a website or a blog where we put google adsense, just like here if you noticed. I also choose Google because I already earned something here. They provide Western Union to pay for your income and there's a lot of Western Union here in the Philippines. Other country as well have Western Union so if your country have it, then this program is for you!
